There are many, many icon resources over the internet. Many designers publish their work covering every possible option for every taste, but there always is that special button icon or image you "really" need, which stays illusive. I tried to compensate for that by abusing SBSH's hosting space, making icons by demand. That collection of icons is availible from the Downloads page. And yet nobody's perfect, and no one could really cover all the demand.
So, since I believe in that old "teach him how to fish" banality, I tried to find a good tutorial to post here. Unfortunatly, the magority of tutorials are software specific or simply too compicated. I really do not like all those "mask-layer-tweak-that-like-a-pro" tutorals. I never understand the point of it. If one would master all the advanced features of Illustrator, why would he or she need a tutorial?
Anyway, I was on a hunt to find a good basic tutorial and when I almost decided to upload my own, I found it.
This one is for Photoshop, but since it uses the most basic tools to achieve a great result, any image manipulation software would do. I recommend downloading GIMP.
So, without further ado, here is a wonderful tutoral from CorruptedTutorals:
Hello everyone,I haven't updated this site for ages, and nevertheless I see much traffic to it, files being downloaded etc., so I'm quite happy with that. I'm glad people still like and use my small contributions to the skinnig world. I've been quite busy with my personal life, work and whole bunch of other unimportant activities, so I have criminally neglected my hobby(ies). But now I feel it's time to step up. I have some interesting plans concerning this site and skinning in general, so stay tuned for some new stuff.Jukov
